Need to return something Santa brought you by accident? Have a habit of returning lots of things?
Now some stores are using a software program to track your returns and keep a file on you.
Make sure you know what the store policy is before you decide to return the item. (Examples: time limitations, restocking fees, issuing store credit only)
Make sure you have the receipt when returning.
If you don't, most stores will only give you credit for the item's current price. For instance, you actually paid $100. for the cashmere sweater but now it is on sale for $50. and that is all the credit they will allow you without a receipt.
