Carrot Zucchini Cookies

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup raw carrots, shredded
1/2 cup raw zucchini, shredded
1 cup nuts (optional)
1 tsp powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 1/4 cups flour

Mix together the shortening, sugar, and egg.
Stir in the carrots and zucchini.
Sift together: flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and spices; stir/combine into shortening mixture.
Mix in the nuts.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
Makes 4 dozen cookies.
