Here is a show synopsis of what was covered on this airing.
If you are looking for something specific, on your tool bar, click edit then find on this page.
Type in the box, then click find. The word you are looking for should be highlighted.
1. Is it dangerous to hold in gas? Everyone holds about 1 liter of gas and releases some 14 times a day (on average). You can hold it in, but it builds up and you can get cramping.
2. Why do people get constipated when travelling? "Safe toilet Syndrome" (for real), when we leave our comfort zone, we are not relaxed. Also, when travelling, people don't get enough fiber or water. If you are travelling out of your time zone, then your body clock is off also.
Chronic constipation can be a sign of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or cancer. Get checked if you have a major change for a time.
3. Is it possible that I am allergic to my husband's sperm? I get numb, red, and irritated.
Dr. Oz explained that it is the protein that may cause the allergy so use a condom.
He also said that it could also be a low grade infection too.
For some woman, their antibodies react to the sperm invaders as if they were bacteria. He said this is sometimes the reason why some woman cannot get pregnant so look into this possibility if you are having trouble conceiving.
4. A woman complained that her massages wear off fast. She was considering "rolfing", and was it longer lasting than a massage.
Dr. Oz explained that rolfing is a type of massage that releases the joints and helps you stand upright. It is like a massage only deep pressure is applied to stimulate lymphatics and releases oxytoxins. It is common to have this sort of treatment after accidents or surgery.
Dr. Oz took his shirt off (yes he was shirtless on Oprah's stage and on National TV) and then had a Rolfing expert demo on him. Rolfing is a good idea for anyone at anytime.
5. Netipot/Nettipot/Neti Pot or a Nose Bidet can be found in health food stores or drug stores (pictured above).
They are good for chronic allergy sufferers, or people with sinus problems.
You use a saline solution, pour it into your nose while tipping your head sideways and flush out the gunk. Do each side/nasal passage. Doctors say that this is better treatment (on a regular basis) than taking antibiotics for sinus infections. Regular treatments (common in other parts of the world) will lessen infections.
6. A woman asked why she had belly button liquid with a strange odor. She said she cleaned her belly button out with rubbing alcohol but she still had it.
Dr. Oz said that she may have a cyst if it is white and creamy. He said you should never clean out something with anything you would not put on or in your eyes.
7. Is is safe to listen to loud music wearing ear buds?
One hour of loud noise is enough. Volume should only be 70% high.
Loud music wears down your ears by shaking up the bones and wearing out the little hairs. This is what leads to hearing loss.
Dr. Oz mentioned a German study that woman exposed to loud noise at work or home had a 50% higher chance of having a heart attack.
8. Room mates complained about a roomies very stinky feet and what could be done about it.
Dr. Oz mentioned that there are a quarter million sweat glands in the feet alone that produce a half liter of sweat a day. Sometimes the odor is caused by bacteria or fungus.
He recommended a home remedy for stinky feet by soaking feet in cold tea every day for a week.
9. Can cell phone use cause brain cancer or radiation poisoning?
Possibly but there are no studies at this time. Put your phone on speaker phone or use a land line if the possibility concerns you.
10. Another woman mentioned profuse sweating that she had to frequently shower and change her clothing.
Sweating is the body getting rid of toxins.
Have your thyroid tested, it is a simple blood test that goes out one day and comes back the next.
It could also be a sign of disease so see your doctor.
Heart disease is one, in particular high blood pressure. Average blood pressure numbers: 130/85 and Optimal is 115/75.
Mention was made of Dr. Oz's book: You on a Diet and his XM Satellite Radio Show.
