I have a pay as you go cell phone. Mostly because I don't want a monthly plan and bill. Every three months, it costs me $15.00. If I have net surfing too, that is 30 cents per day. The screen is too small for me to surf but I have to pay that to upload pictures on the net from my phone right into my account.
I use Virgin Atlantic and have a Flasher camera phone but may be upgrading to their new Cyclops.
I have to look at that phone first but do not see it in any local stores yet.
We have an Oystr (daughter) and a Kyrocea (husband). We use them just between us and do not give our number out to anyone else. My daughter and I love to text message. I text message my husband and he could not figure out how to read the entire message till I showed him how to scroll. He is not nifty keen on these fun gadgets. I text message my grocery list from one phone to my phone so I don't forget anything.
So -- here is the issue -- people dialing the wrong number and leaving messages for someone else but not me and I have to pay for that. Our phone is off most of the time, only on when we need it to be on and we announce that to each other at home.
Let's see -- we got an angry and mad person who did not want us to call them anymore.
Some guy called and said that this use to be his old cell phone number and to give him a call back whoever we were but not right now because he was going out plowing snow. His name was Frank.
Two phone calls from an insurance adjuster telling us what the insurance company ruling was on the accident and how much they would pay out. I felt sorry for the people who were suppose to get this message.
We kept on getting messages for this musician. I then looked up his number and called him. Told him I was getting all sorts of messages, even played secretary and gave him all the messages I got. Turns out he recently had new stationary printed and had an ad campaign and sent out all this info without proofreading it carefully as it had our phone number on it rather than his.
We kept on getting messages for another man who invented some sort of lighting device and was selling it direct. I called him up too and told him to call this one or that one. Recently I saw in the paper he passed away and I thought, no one will be calling him now.
A substitute teacher trying to reach the real teacher (sorry you are sick, hope you are feeling better) saying what sort of day he had and how Kevin behaved badly in class but he had it under control, don't worry and talk to you later. Yes we did get a follow up call and Kevin had not improved his disposition and was sent to the office, hope you are feeling better.
But this one is the best wrong number phone calls.
A highschool (spanking new building) 40 minutes away has us on their call list. Evidently someone miswrote their phone number as ours on the student information card. We called and told them it was our number and don't live in their town and they said they would take it off the list but they have not. So far these are the messages we have gotten.
1. Evidently Crystal skips school. We are notified by a message as they think they are calling Crystal's parents. This was our only clue to the name we may be filed under at school, a girl named Crystal. This was when we called and told them they were calling the wrong people. We were not taken off their list after the request. Shame on Crystal, and was she or wasn't she caught since they dialed the wrong number and who knew that but only us?
2. The principal has every parent on a dial system. She sends voice announcements to parents, which she thinks we are one. We got a message about the fire alarm being pulled and it is under investigation.
3. Within a few days of that call, we got a message about the food fight in the cafeterial and how the police were called in. Another investigation.
4. A message about how the investigations were going and the type of charges being pressed.
5. The final message that arrests have been made and pending court charges and suspensions of the individuals.
Now my daughter does not want us to call and have them take us off the phone list because she feels priviledged to know this, gives her something to talk about. After all, this highschool plays our highschool in sporting events. Now the team looks different to us knowing this information, we wonder who was involved with the troubles.
The only other thing that is funny about a misdailed phone number is that I gave my Dad a Kyrocea. He keeps it in his pocket and sometimes he dials me by accident and I can hear him talking to other people. I think the funniest one was when he was visiting friends (a reunion) and he dialed me on the land line. Our answering machine recorded five minutes of his conversation. My dad was telling jokes and I heard a roars of laughter. At least I knew he had a good time with his friends at a reunion.
I suppose in this case, paying for wrong numbers is like paying for a small price of entertainment.
I need to recharge the phone now so I can listen to any other crazy messages we may have received, at our expense.
So did you ever recieve a funny phone message?
