It is finally over! The Invention Convention and a birthday!
The third graders were all doing a unit on inventions. By the end of the unit, they had to create and make an invention, and a a display board. Then they had to do an infomercial presentation to their class. Next was the "convention" in the cafeteria where they stood posted by their invention and talked about it to passerbyers and judges. The convention also was in the evening but in the classrooms and after they displayed them, they could take them home.
My son's invention was pretty good. I am not allowed to talk about it because we are thinking of getting the idea patented.
He won 3rd prize, a fancy ribbon, and a medal with a scientific motif plus a certificate.
He was so excited he did not really know what he won and which place it was when he told us when he got home from school. We had to go to the evening presentation to find out what the story was.
Anyways, he is so delighted and a hands on activity like this plus the chance to act in his own commercial, what more could you ask for? He loves to talk.

It was his birthday this week -- the 20th. Hard to believe he is now 9.
Leave him a comment - he will be delighted and it might change his mind about his mother's blogging addiction. LOL
Thanks!
