I bought another one today because I just love them. They stay off until they sense motion (even a gust of air) and they turn on automatically within several feet. I have a few from GE - in the hallway, and the bathrooms (great for a night trip). I got a First Alert one today at Target for the back door. It is a bit larger than the GE ones (got those at WalMart). They cost around $10.00 or less each but they are a worthy investment.
I just thought I would post this because it is a nice inexpensive gift for someone, especially an elderly person.
The only problem I have is if someone leaves the laundry door opened, and the dryer is running, the nightlight stays on from the dryer vibrations.
I would think that if you put one in a baby's room, when they cry, it would go on automatically too from the crying vibrations.
